Music : A Hard Day's Nightby: The Beatles
Disc 1:
Editorial Review: Amazon.co.uk Review: Strummmmm! That dramatic guitar chord that kicks of A Hard Day's Night (album, song, movie) still jumps right out at you, slaps you in the face, and jump-starts your heart. And you know what? Both the music and the film are still as crisp and lively as they were in 1964. Of course, only the first seven songs are actually in the movie (and they are the strongest of the bunch, from the rousing rock & roll of title track and the hit single 'Can't Buy Me Love', to the beautiful ballads 'If I Fell' and 'And I Love Her'). But nobody's going to complain about having songs like 'I'll Cry Instead' and 'Things We Said Today' in the second half of the record; they certainly don't feel like leftovers. Yet another high-point for John, Paul, George, and Ringo--four fab fellows who hit the highest heights imaginable. --Jim Emerson Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - Not hard to listen to and to love. This album is a light hearted album from The Beatles, and is their first one to consist solely of their own compositions. It was the soundtrack to their film of the same title, and it was released at the height of Beatlemania. This album is one that most people will know, and it's probably one of the most popular because it's so upbeat, catchy and well-known. The title track, A Hard Day's Night opens the album, and there is not a lot I need to say about this one as everyone ... Also recorded during these sessions were 'Long Tall Sally', 'I Call Your Name' and 'Slow Down'. All four of these songs (three of them were covers) were excluded from 'A Hard Day's Night', but released seperately on the 'Long Tall Sally' EP. Also of interest, the two ... George Martin just let them play and smoothed over the edges without dampening their fire. I don't think they bettered this album for consistancy. No offence to Ringo, but I'm so glad he was not handed a lead vocal. This is the Pop benchmark. 'Everything seems to be right!' Rating: - a good starting pointReally great tunes here! For a contemporary comparison I recommend Nick Worrall. His album is FREE to download as well. Rating: - Another great album from the Fab FourI love every single song on this CD and I am sure others would too especially the songs "Things we said today" and "you can't do that". A great album from the best band in the world
