- MagnificentI somehow seem to have caught a certain negativity of feeling towards Gould. People told me he was a showman, not really a musician, too egotistical to let the music really shine through. So it was with trepidation that I listened to this recording for the first time (the first time I had heard Gould.

- incredible rendering of 30 small masterpiecesI don't think it took Gould long to record these pieces. Indeed, he didn't talk a great deal about them in all his writings. There is even a flaw in the piano mid-range giving a slight double-hit sound with the hammers (detailed in the CD's sleeve). Nevertheless, i found this recording to be incredibly moving. In fact, the slight flaw even adds to the recording's character. There is never a hint that these are simply technical workouts for the student. Bach had to much genius to write anything ...
