- maximum hard rock, that even today is hard to follow...Deep Purple Mark 3 in superb surroundings.
There is little to fault with this footage ( Glen Hughes's blues warbling's aside ).
The musicianship is astounding. The highlight for me is watching Ian Paice from start to finish.
Drummer's, this is a must, don't ignore, if you are a fan and appreciate drumming with conviction then purchase this, it's unbeatable (no pun intended!)
Can't wait for a dvd version as I am on my third video copy!

- Vintage Purple Mark III Preserve!...Unfortunately I was too young to see Deep Purple in the Seventies and decent live recordings of the band seem criminally few and far between. (Mark 2s Made in Japan was marred by Gillan's larengitis and mark 3s Made in Europe by Blackmore's injured hand.)
This performance (as Live in London) though,is a fabulous example of mark 3s shows and whats more you get to SEE the gig too! So it was just what I needed.

- Officially the biggest band in the world!This is simply a must buy. Set with the California desert in the back ground DP launch into one of the best live versions of Burn I have seen or heard. The evening sunset draws to a close and the band settle into the familar set of 1974 to the delight of over 350,000 fans. JL solo is as fine as any and the early moog sinth experimental sounds must have been totally inspiring back in 74. The set ending in Richie blowing up his Marshalls with trays of petrol causing initial loss of hair perhaps ... Read More
