Editorial Review: Amazon.co.uk Review: For people who've discovered Jackie Chan through his American hit Rush Hour and want to learn what his Hong Kong movies are like, Project A is an excellent place to start. Chan plays a sailor in 19th-century Hong Kong; pirates have been terrorizing the seas for months and all efforts to combat them have been sabotaged by the corrupt chief of police and a criminal gang, who are in cahoots with the pirates. But the plot is hardly the point--a Jackie Chan movie is about astonishingly acrobatic action sequences and breathtaking stunts, and Project A has plenty. Of particular interest is a bicycle chase that is more suspenseful than any car chase you've ever seen. Chan is joined by Sammo Hung (star of the US TV series Martial Law) as a shifty con man who comes through when the chips are down. Project A also features Yuen Biao, a frequent co-star in Chan's movies, who's yet another astounding martial artist. But what separates Jackie Chan movies from other kung fu flicks is his sense of humour; every fight scene is punctuated by something--a clever use of a prop or sudden reversal of your expectations--that will make you bark with laughter. Sometimes it's just so exquisitely choreographed that the entire movie seems to float on a cloud of giddy delight. Jackie Chan is often compared to the classic silent comedians for his grace and timing--he lives up to it. --Bret Fetzer Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - Jackie Chan at his funniest, fastest, everything!this film is absolutely superb! the comedy, the fights, the acting, the choreography, its just mind-blowing and entertaining! bike scenes are the funniest in the film! still going strong after all these years! Rating: - A childhood favouriteEveryone in my household is martial arts crazy (don't ask) so basically Jackie Chan was a household name at home. This is one of the movies I enjoyed at an early age, this is was the original 'pirates of the Caribbean' (unfortunately no Johnny Depp though ). This movie has it all, treasure, humour, kidnapping, explosions and of course Jackie going into hyper mode. A must see for all m. art fans! Trust me you'll love Jackie even more after this Rating: - PROJECT A GETS AN 'A' +Jackie Chan stars as Dragon Ma, a courageous wiseacre working for the Coast Guard. Throughout the course of the movie, our hero eventually teams up with Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao to take down a group of nefarious pirates led by Dick Wei, who seems to be the scariest-looking, yet altogether nicest pirate in cinema history. And that's pretty much all there is to know, or to tell for that matter, in terms of a plot synopsis for Project A, an early stunt extravaganza from actor-director Jackie Chan. As ... Just look out for the fight scene with jackie being chased on a bicycle...i wont spoil the rest for you. If you havent seen this yet, then watch it...tonight! Rating: - A Martial Arts MasterpieceAs a martial arts movie enthusiast, I have watched plenty of old and modern, good and terrible martial arts films. Project A is at the very top of the list. Jackie Chan is one of the most talented martial artists to appear in films, and as a showcase of his talent, no film does it better. Sammo Hung and Jackie Chan have some incredible sequences in this film including (in my opinion) the best fight scene -ever- at the very end of the film. But this isn't JUST a really good martial ...
