![]() Rating: - Quirky, humorous and enjoyableI found this a surprising film. It largely takes place in a small barber's shop. The main theme is the genesis and fulfillment of a lonely man's sexual fantasy of being married to a hairdresser, but the story is told in an unusual mixture of interactions with customers, exuberant dance scenes and sensual love-making. It is very funny most of the time, tempered with some sadness. Recommended. Rating: - Pointless movie with no psychology going on between the two charactersLooking for an enigmatic French film, with long unbroken static shots of a middle aged man dancing to Arabic world music? You are? Good because this film is for you. Looking for something with a story, or characters who have an inner life of their own? Forget it. It begins okay as the lead character's creepy fetish for female barbers is interesting. Unfortunately reason and logic stop after the first five minutes, and we enter a surreal world where people do things for no reason. ... This Second Sight DVD is about 1.78:1, not as wide as it should be, scanned up (like they do when a film is shown on tv), so you don't see the full picture. Truly terrible. Look for the deleted Tartan DVD, which is in the correct widescreen, or better still, the DVDY French DVD (with English sub-titles), which actually shows the full picture, a tiny bit more than the Tartan DVD! That DVDY DVD may still be found on amazon.fr. Rating: - Classic love story and very tragic. This film is a wonderful fantasy about love. It not only shows the deep warm feelings of a man but the growth of love. All his life he has wanted to be a hairdressers husband... his sole ambition...he finds his dream actually comes true. The woman he marries at first you think she may not quite love him but there is some understanding between them. Their passion is endless...it really comes across in the screen.. their passion...you are almost at the edge of your seat watching it....Wonderful(!) ...
