- Wonderful, beautiful, colourful, truly a must see filmI saw this film and wanted it immediately. A very good story line and cinematography to die for, it delivers a sumptous visual and auditory feast for the senses. The underlying theme of love and lust lures the viewer into a China of old with its contraints, deviousness, heirachy and poverty. - Remarkable, Refreshing & Beautiful CinematographyA friend recommended this film to me and to be honest I have never been interested in watching films with subtitles, therefore I was reluctant to watch it. However, as the opening sequence started, I found myself mesmerized. This film is truly remarkable, everything about it from the story to the cinematography is alluring. I have never posted a comment about anything on the internet, but since watching this film, I felt it would be selfish not to inform other people of such a remarkable film.

- A Gut-Wrenching Breathtaking PieceThe magnificance of this film cannot be understated, it lies not just in the incredible emotions displayed from an impressively well performing cast, but also in the atmosphere of time and place. This film builds up slowly and almost without knowing it you are caught by its drama. Come the firecracker showdown (brilliantly coreographed) you will realise how much you heart is in the battle as well. A must see film for eastern cinema fans, especially for those whom love Wong Kar-Wai.
